I just became dad.
Not just, but about 9 months ago. I have felt like a dad only recently, when the kid decided to respond like she knew me. Did you feel like a dad on day one? I'm sure it was life changing, in several ways. But has the feeling settled down now? That seems to follow a bit later, and it marks the point when one or more of the following will hit you: Fitness: Am I fit enought to run behind the kid, play 2 hours, manage 80 hour weeks and still be smiling at the dinner table? Finances: Am I saving enough for what's coming up? Growth: Where does my career go from here, now that I have worked hard 10 years and may want more time at home? Stability: Oh and the house? I must buy a house real soon. And the most important one: Parenting: Can I be as responsible as my dad was? With a lot more fun thrown in.
